Building Department

The Building Department is responsible for building, property maintenance, and zoning code enforcement-related activities. The department handles plan review, issues building permits, and conducts commercial and residential building inspections. St. Louis County handles plumbing and electrical inspections. Codes and Ordinances Presently Enforced in the City of Creve Coeur

• 2003 International Building Code, adopted and amended by Ordinance No. 4076, effective date 5/29/2007. Enforced by the Creve Coeur Building Department.
• 2003 International Residential Code for One and Two-Family Dwellings, adopted and amended by Ordinance No. 4082, effective date 5/29/2007. Enforced by the Creve Coeur Building Department.
• 2003 International Mechanical Code, adopted and amended by Ordinance No.3081, effective date 9/6/2005. Residential mechanical work is permitted and inspected by the Creve Coeur Building Department. Commercial mechanical work is permitted and inspected by St. Louis County Department of Public Works.
• 2005 National Electrical Code, adopted and amended by Ordinance No. 4023, effective date 6/27/2006. Enforced by St. Louis County Department of Public Works.
• 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code, adopted and amended by Ordinance No. 3080, effective date 9/6/2005. Enforced by St. Louis County Department of Public Works.

PLEASE NOTE – Per the City Code of Ordinances (Section 18-112a7)
CONSTRUCTION HOURS are limited to:               
Weekdays – 7 am through 6 pm.
Weekends – 9 am through 6 pm.

Extended construction hours may be granted only in cases of urgent necessity in the interest of public safety and upon written request to and approval from the chief building official.
