Holidays
Building Inspections are required
at various stages of construction on every project that the city's
Building Department has issued a building permit. Please click on the Building
Department Inspection Sequence checklist for a detailed description
of required inspections. If you have any questions regarding inspections
that are required for your particular project contact the Chief Building
Official at 872-2513 or e-mail.
Call-ins
for inspection must provide the following for information
a. Contractor
b. Permit number
c. Address and/or lot number
d. Type of inspection needed
You must talk directly to one of the secretaries when requesting
an inspection – do not leave an inspection on voice mail.
Office
hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 24 hour notice is required.
The operating objective is to inspect any job the next working day after
request. The cut off for next day’s inspection is 4 p.m.
For any building inspection required as listed on “record of inspections”
card, call 872-2500. For fire district inspections, call 432-5570 for
the Creve Coeur Fire District, 514-0900 for Monarch Fire District, or
428-6069 for West Overland Fire District.
For electrical, plumbing, and commercial mechanical call St.
Louis County at 615-5000.
Inspections are required to be requested in the order in which they
are listed and numbered on the blue (foundation) and red (interior)
authorized building cards issued with each building permit.
Code Enforcement & Penalty Fees
1. Extra Inspections – if job is turned down because of any of
the following reasons:

2. Transfer of
subcontractor or residential permit…………………...$25
3. Duplicate #2 Card………………………………………………..............…$30
4. The charge for permit fees shall be doubled when any work is found
to be in the process without a permit and in addition a penalty of up
to $500 may be levied.
