Recycling
Allied Waste and Smurfit
have incorporated a new single stream recycle program. With the new
process of single stream recycling, we are able to accept a wider variety
of materials. With the help of you, this will not only increase the
amount of recycled material the city produces, but will also keep valuable
landfill space available. This new process allows them to compact
this material, without separation. This means you can continue to package
your material all in one bin, without having to separate it. Best of
all this expanded service is provided without an increase in current
rates. The expanded service started March 2005.

The City of Creve Coeur provides free
curbside recycling services to residents of single-family homes and
participating condominiums. Recycling bags are delivered to residents
once a year, in June. Additional rolls may be purchased
at the Government Center for $4.00 per roll. Allied Waste collects the recyclable
materials and
delivers them to Resource Management in Earth City.
Place all recycling items in the same bag. Newspapers
and magazines can be placed in brown paper grocery bags to save space.
Place all bags at the curb by 7 a.m. the same day as your trash pick-up
day.
Q. Where can I recycle if I live in
an apartment?
There are no drop off centers in Creve Coeur. The City of Kirkwood
has an extensive drop off center that accepts everything the city recycles
plus chipboard (cereal and shoe boxes). The Kirkwood Center is located
on South Taylor north of Woodbine.

site
Q. How do I dispose of household hazardous waste?
St. Louis County Department of Health offers recycling days a few times
each year. Call 286-9200 for the next collection date or visit their
Web
site.
Q. What about computer or electronics equipment?
The St. Louis Regional Partnership for Electronics Recovery was formed in 2002 as a result of a grant issued by the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District. The purpose of the grant was to develop a regional consumer electronics collection program that would offer a convenient and cost-effective program throughout the region year-round.Visit ecyclestlouis.org or call 615-4035 for a list of all participating sites and fees for handling certain equipment.
