City Charter Amendments Passed

On April 3, 2007, citizens approved several amendments to the city charter, which will take effect June 1. The following is background information on the amendments:

Since the charter is the primary legal document under which the city functions, it is important for its provisions to remain contemporary. Several amendments have been made to the charter since its adoption in 1976, and a need for further amendments is now recognized by city officials, the city attorney, and citizens. The goal of the changes is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of government for the citizens of Creve Coeur.

The amendments have been divided up into the following six general classifications, each of which were presented as a separate proposition on the ballot.  The specific text of the charter can be viewed by clicking on the link to each proposition below.

Proposition 1: Elected Officials (Ordinance No. 4054)
Proposition 2: Enactment of Ordinances (Ordinance No. 4055)
Proposition 3: Budgets and Finances (Ordinance No. 4056)
Proposition 4: Appointments (Ordinance No. 4057)
Proposition 5: General Administration (Ordinance No. 4058)
Proposition 6: Eminent Domain (proposed by citizen petition – Ordinance No. 4060)
