| Creve Coeur Quality Jobs Program The City Council recently established the Creve Coeur Quality Jobs Program to promote high-quality job growth in the community. The program allows existing and prospective businesses to maximize state tax credits available under the Missouri Quality Jobs Program, initiated by the State of Missouri in 2005.
The Missouri Quality Jobs Program provides state tax credits for businesses creating new jobs meeting or exceeding the county average wage. "High Impact" businesses, which are those creating 100 or more new, high-wage jobs over a two-year period, can receive additional state tax credits if the local government offers a portion of the new tax revenues as a local incentive. New tax revenues are typically business license taxes, personal property taxes, and, in some cases, real estate taxes.
The Creve Coeur Quality Jobs Program provides a local incentive by waiving 50% of business license fees for up to ten years. The program also allows for the abatement of new personal property or real estate taxes through the issuance of Chapter 100 bonds. Any qualified business can take advantage of the program.
Businesses with high paying jobs provide both direct and indirect benefits to the local and regional economy. While the city and other taxing districts sacrifice a portion of the new tax revenue generated by the qualifying business, neither the city nor the other taxing districts would receive any additional revenue if the business decides to locate outside of Creve Coeur.
