Women's Self-Defense Course

Starting Monday, December 12th through December 15th, 2016
Time:     6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Location:     The Creve Coeur Government Center's Multipurpose Room

The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System
is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques.  It is a comprehensive course for women only that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

RAD is not a martial arts program.  Our courses are taught by certified RAD instructors and are sponsored by the Creve Coeur Joint Crime Prevention Partnership.
During this course, you will be provided a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous personal growth.

This program is split into four classes:

  • Dec 12: Students will learn the manual and be involved in a discussion of risk reduction strategies, date rape, continuum of survival, defensive strategies and the basic principles of defense.
  • Dec 13: Participating students will continue the process of hands on training.  The techniques utilized by RAD Systems are based on simple gross motor skills and are developed to the point that they become instinctual through repetition.
  • Dec 14: Students will have the opportunity to use these techniques in dynamic impact training by striking padded equipment held by the instructors.
  • Dec 15: Students will participate in "simulated assault" scenarios with RAD instructors, who along with participants, wear state-of-the-art protective gear specifically designed for this training.

A criminal background check of all applicants will be completed, and waivers must be signed at the first class.

This program is meant for women 12 years of age and up and has an element of physical demand. If you would like more information about this program or if you wish to register, please call the Creve Coeur Police Department's Crime Prevention Officer at (314) 442-2075 or you can email your name, address, and phone number to the Crime Prevention Officer
