Creve Coeur Police Department - Exchange Location
The Creve Coeur Police Department, in an effort to reduce possible victimization associated with in-person transactions which originated via online sites such as Craigslist, E-bay, etc., suggests that residents meet the other party at the Police Department to finalize personal transactions. Transactions may be completed on the Police Department parking lot or in the Police lobby between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., seven days a week.
This offer does not extend to transactions involving:
Large, cumbersome household items, appliances and landscape care equipment
The sale of any contraband, stolen property or other illegal items
Firearms or explosive material
The Creve Coeur Police Department is strictly providing an exchange location and will not facilitate, or otherwise be associated with any transactions. Rules of Craigslist and other personal transaction sites should be followed. It is important to note that items cannot be stored at the Police Department or on the parking lot.
If you choose not to use the Creve Coeur Police Department to complete your transaction there a few precautions when meeting someone for the first time to conduct any transaction:
Insist on a public meeting place; do not meet in a secluded location
Do not invite strangers into your home, and do not go to theirs
Be especially careful when buying/selling high value items
Have a friend accompany you or at least tell a friend where you are going
Take your cell phone
Trust your instincts
If it sounds too good to be true, it normally is
