City Survey Shows Resident
Satisfaction
CREVE COEUR – The resident survey conducted last fall shows that
residents love to live in Creve Coeur. According to Ken Warren, Ph.D., president
of The Warren Poll, one reason is because they are extremely pleased with the
quality of services provided by their city with 92.5% of the citizenry ranking
the overall quality of city services “good” to “excellent.”
The city commissioned The Warren Poll to conduct the
survey to measure citizen satisfaction with city services as well as opinions
on major topics. A total of 683 adult residents were surveyed with an error margin
of + 4% at 95% confidence. The city hopes to conduct a similar survey
every two years to measure how well the city is performing.
When asked about specific city services, almost all
city services received very positive ratings. Police services were ranked as
the best city service with 97% of the residents ranking police services “good” to
“excellent.” Eight other specific city services received near or above 90%
“good” to “excellent” rankings including park maintenance (94.5%), city
newsletter (94%), parks and recreation (92.5%), city Web site (91%), courteousness
of city employees (90.5%), leaf vacuuming (90%), limb chipping (90%), and snow
removal (87.5%).
Poll questions devoted to trash and recycling
services showed that residents are “very satisfied” to “satisfied” 93.5% with
the city’s trash service,
(MORE)
while 82% participate in the recycling program weekly.
A majority of residents (66%) said they would be
“likely” to “very likely” to vote for a new one-half cent sales tax to
construct and maintain a new indoor recreation center if it had the program
features “that they most preferred”. On other matters:
Mark Perkins, city administrator, stated, “We are
pleased with the positive ratings received on city services. But there is always
room for improvement, and the survey data will be useful in evaluating services
and performance as well as developing priorities in the budget process.”
The full survey report is posted to the city’s Web
site at www.creve-coeur.org/.
