Creve Coeur Dog Park Construction Underway

CREVE COEUR - Construction began on Creve Coeur’s dog park in Conway Park in early January and is expected to be open by May.

Creve Coeur residents will have the first opportunity to register for dog park membership beginning April 2. Non-residents may register beginning April 16. Annual memberships will initially be capped at 200 until the city can evaluate park usage and determine if additional memberships can be accommodated. To purchase a membership, please come to the Creve Coeur Government Center (300 N. New Ballas Rd.) on or after April 2 (April 16 for non-residents) during normal business hours (8 to 5, Monday through Friday). Registrants will be asked to provide proof of the following (you do not need to bring your dog with you when registering):

  • Proof of current vaccinations for rabies and bordetella (kennel cough).
  • Proof that your dog has been spayed or neutered.
  • Proof of Creve Coeur residency to be eligible for resident rates and early registration (such as driver’s license, utility bill with your Creve Coeur address, etc.).

The following introductory dog park membership fees will apply to members registering on or before June 30, 2007:

Resident annual fee for first dog                                 $20
Resident annual fee for each additional dog              $10
Non-resident annual fee for first dog                          $53
Non-resident annual fee for each additional dog        $17

From July 1 to the end of the year, the following annual fees will apply:
Resident annual fee for first dog                                 $15
Resident annual fee for each additional dog              $7.50
Non-resident annual fee for first dog                          $40
Non-resident annual fee for each additional dog        $12.50

Annual memberships shall be valid during the calendar year in which purchased.  A numbered Creve Coeur Dog Park collar tag will be issued as proof of membership, and each member will be issued a key code for access to the dog park.

The dog park will include a five-foot high, black, steel wire fence to create an off-leash area with two sections: a two-acre section for large dogs and a half-acre section primarily for smaller dogs. Wood chips will be used as needed in the half-acre section which will be open to both small and large dogs at certain times during the year (primarily in the winter months) in order to close the large section for turf revitalization. Other features include a drinking fountain, benches, and pet waste stations.
