CREVE COEUR – On April 3, the Creve Coeur Planning & Zoning
Commission is expected to review a proposal to sell a piece of park land. Mike Jaudes, owner of The Fitness Edge, recently approached the
city to purchase a portion of park property in order to expand his business at
the corner of Olive and Old Olive.
The
business has been doing so well that Jaudes started
looking at ways to provide additional services and add floor space. After
looking at several options, Jaudes sought the
purchase of .49 acres of land on the south and west side of his building. The
land is part of
The
city's Comprehensive Plan describes potential future improvements to the park
such as a gazebo and benches, which would not be impacted by the proposed sale.
Future road improvements in the area would also not be impacted.
If
approved by the City Council, following review by the Planning & Zoning
Commission, the sale amount will be $165,900 and would allow the city the use
of up to ten parking spaces in the Fitness Edge parking lot for special events
in the park.
The
Fitness Edge's expansion plans involve two additional rows of parking and a
6,000 sq ft building addition, which would continue elements from the
building's existing architecture and design.
The
Planning & Zoning Commission was scheduled to review both the land sale and
site plan at its April 3 meeting. The City Council has final approval on the
land sale, which may be considered at its April 6 (first two readings expected)
and April 24 meetings.
