Forum on Proposed City Charter Amendments to be Held November 27

CREVE COEUR - The City Council is considering propositions to be placed on the April 3, 2007, ballot, which, if approved by voters, would amend certain sections of the City Charter. Citizens will be able to comment on the proposed amendments during a public forum scheduled to take place at the November 27 City Council meeting. Since the charter is the primary legal document under which the city functions, it is important for its provisions to remain contemporary.        Several amendments have been made to the charter since its adoption in 1976, and it has been recognized by city officials, the city attorney, and citizens that further amendments are needed. Amendments being considered include items such as revising grounds for forfeiture of office for Council Members, allowing ordinances to become effective immediately upon passage instead of the current 15-day waiting period, and deleting city residency requirements for the municipal judge

Information about charter amendments being considered for the April 3 ballot is available on the city's Web site at www.creve-coeur.org/.
