Creve Coeur Names Outstanding Citizens

 

CREVE COEUR – Creve Coeur honored Gloria Dalton and Bill Wyne as the city’s first Outstanding Citizens during the holiday appreciation dinner Tuesday evening.

A resident of the Creve Coeur area for 37 years and a member of the Creve Coeur-Chesterfield Historical Society, Dalton has edited and written many books including The Heritage of Creve Coeur, One Hundred Twenty-Five Years of St. Monica Church, and Creve Coeur Lake Area. She has always been readily available to make the historical Lake School House and cabins in Conway Park available for tour. Dalton and her late husband, Michael, raised eight children, and she taught in the Parkway School District for 35 years.

Bill Wyne moved to Creve Coeur in 1949, the year the city was incorporated, and served as city attorney during its formative years. Wyne was awarded a 50-year perfect attendance pin for his attendance at Creve Coeur Lions meetings and served as president in 1957, 1980, and 1990. For the past 39 years, he has been a member of the Creve Coeur American Legion Post 397 where he served as Adjutant General and President of the Building Association. Wyne did not allow his civic duties to interfere with his dedication to his family. A father of four sons, three of which have attained the rank of Eagle Scouts, and he is still active in the Boy Scouts after more than 40 years of service.

The City Council launched the Outstanding Citizen Award to recognize the effort, time, and talent of its dedicated citizens.
