13 December 2002

Dear Resident/Trustee:

On Monday, December 9th the Creve Coeur City Council approved the following traffic-calming measures for the Belle Coeur Subdivision:

1)      Establishing a one-way restriction, authorizing southbound travel only, on Chasselle Lane between the roundabouts at Chamblee and Champeix Lanes; and

2)      Continued use of “traffic calming barricades” on Chasselle Lane.

The above measures were submitted as part of a traffic calming assessment conducted by a Neighborhood Assessment Committee in compliance with the City’s Traffic Calming/Mitigation Program, which was adopted in March 2002. Although this Program was just recently formalized, the existing barricades on Chasselle have been in place for over two years in an effort to reduce speeds and cut-thru traffic.

The new one-way restriction will be implemented shortly after New Year.  A brief awareness/compliance transition period will be conducted prior to enforcement. The Police Department will monitor and survey the effectiveness and impact of the new restriction.

The Belle Coeur Traffic Calming Assessment will be available on the City’s web site at www.creve-coeur.org in the very near future, and if necessary you may also contact Lieutenant Glenn Eidman at 872-0946, ext. 2769.

Sincerely,

John Beardslee

Police Chief
