Welcome from Mayor Harold Dielmann

Welcome to the City of Creve Coeur. Since our incorporation in 1949, Creve Coeur has developed into a vibrant community providing it all--a great place to live and work. With our beautiful neighborhoods, Creve Coeur provides the perfect place to live and raise a family. We have a number of the finest private and public schools in the region, as well as a wide array of religious institutions. Creve Coeur has more city parks than any other municipality in west county, its own nine-hole golf course, and an indoor ice skating arena, which was recently renovated.

Creve Coeur residents receive the finest municipal providers including police, public works, building, planning, and community services (parks and recreation). The city provides an array of excellent services including rear-yard refuse pick up, yard waste collection, curb-side recycling, and a Community Center. The half-cent capital improvement sales tax passed in 1997 generates funds to accomplish projects in the areas of stormwater control, park development, street and sidewalk improvements, and beautification projects.

The Creve Coeur Police Department also offers special services including vacation checks while you’re out of town and car seat loans for visiting children. Two unique laws are in effect. The animal tethering ordinance limits the time a dog or cat can be chained outside and regulates the chaining. The helmet safety law requires bicyclists, skateboarders, and in-line skaters of all ages to wear a protective helmet. The city also requires anyone operating a home business to apply for a business license for a modest fee. The city is operated under a mayor-city administrator form of government. Eight City Council Members serve our four wards.

Creve Coeur is a prestigious business address. Creve Coeur houses world-class research, technological and medical facilities including Monsanto, Reuters, HBE, St. John's Mercy Medical Center, Barnes Jewish West County Hospital, Danforth Plant Science Center, and Nidus Center. Creve Coeur has developed into a major technology corridor, attracting high-tech companies such as Microsoft, SAP, Compaq, and Novell. These companies, combined with over 1,000 commercial retailers and numerous office parks, create a daytime population of 35,000.

Creve Coeur is the heart of St. Louis County, and we are working aggressively to meet the challenges of the next century. We are striving to retain existing businesses and attract high-tech businesses of the future. We are working to maintain and improve our residential neighborhoods by maintaining and improving our streets, sidewalks, and other infrastructure so that property values remain strong. We are working to retain the fine balance between our residential and commercial and institutional residents so that Creve Coeur remains the viable and attractive community that it is.The future of Creve Coeur is bright.
